Global software specialist Saggezza is one of a number of exciting tech businesses that calls Sunderland home.
With a hub in Sunderland Software Centre, the company has rapid expansion plans, having already grown from a standing start to a business that sustains more than 30 high-value jobs in the city.
Saggezza has offices in Chicago, Silicon Valley, Chenai, Bangalore and London, and made the decision to open a Sunderland office in 2014; it’s never looked back since…
UK MD Martin Williams of Saggezza, which supports customers to make better use of technology to streamline their processes and increase their profitability, said: “One of the members of our London team was from the North East and suggested it might be worth exploring an office in the region.
“We looked at a number of locations and found that Sunderland was the best fit for us. The business investment team were extremely supportive and really helped us to hit the ground running from day one. We have been moving forward at pace since then.”
The business services globally-renowned clients from its city centre office, and has successfully tapped into the region’s rich talent pool, as well as taking advantage of Sunderland’s excellent connectivity.
“Sunderland offers some real advantages. It’s very central in the region, meaning we can draw from a wide talent-pool. We have some high-performing universities close by, and they’re helping us access skilled people who can drive our company forward.
“The city also enjoys fantastic connectivity, with Metro, rail, road, air and sea links within minutes of our office, so our national and international team can get here very easily when they need to, which is critical if you’re a global business. And connectivity in the digital sense is also excellent. Our Software Centre base offers resilient, ultra-fast internet access, which is fundamental to a business like ours.”
As a company that was effectively starting from scratch in assembling a team, readily available support was critical.
“We were supported by the council and support organisations like Sunderland Software City from the off, which helped us to quickly get started and scale up at speed. We continue to benefit from excellent support.”
