Tombola top of the shop as turnover hits £90m mark
Sunderland-based online bingo and gaming company Tombola has increased revenue beyond £90m, while improving pre-tax profit by more than a third.
The business is the UK's largest online bingo site and is also the market leader in Italy and Spain, with £7m worth of prizes available each week through bingo and arcade games.
Its 500 staff now work from a new purpose-built £8m campus, which opened earlier this year on Sunderland's Wylam Wharf.
Turnover climbed 23 per cent to £90.3m for the year ending 30 April 2018, according to newly filed accounts.
Pre-tax profit grew from £13.8m to £19.2m during the period, a 39 per cent increase.
A review accompanying the results said Tombola "continues to thrive and grow its market share across the UK and Europe".
It attributed the growth in profit to the first full year of operation of the Tombola Arcade instant win games site, which was launched in 2016.
The review added: "The group is focused on the continual research and development of its products and invests much time and resource to ensure the highest quality of its product."
