Sunderland businesses set for boost with recovery task force

Businesses in Sunderland have backed a new initiative created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic disruption.

Sunderland BID has launched a recovery task force to help businesses across the city to get back on track in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Led by Sharon Appleby, head of business operations at the BID, the task force will assist local entrepreneurs with the reopening and growth of their businesses, focusing on safety, business support, consumer confidence, getting into Sunderland and evidence and insight.

Businesses that have already given their support to the taskforce are the Bridges, Richard Reed Solicitors, Pub Culture, the Empire Theatre, Sunderland Software City, Stagecoach, Port independent, Cowell George and MMC.

Sharon commented: “It was fantastic to see the number of businesses from across every industry that have committed to work together to look at the city centre’s recovery post COVID-19.

“We can now start to make real plans to look at ways we can ensure that we come out of these unprecedented times in the best shape possible.”
