"IAMP will capitalise on the North East’s strengths in advanced manufacturing, and cultivate a diverse base of businesses, spanning aerospace, rail, automation and offshore among others."
Councillor Graeme Miller
Leader, Sunderland City Council
The International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) is one the most important development sites in the north of England, if not the country.
With up to 150 hectares of development land to the north of Nissan UK and adjacent to the A19 trunk road, IAMP is designated a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’ (NSIP) by the UK Government, and is a partnership between Sunderland and South Tyneside.
IAMP is a hub for automotive, advanced manufacturing and technology businesses, accelerating economic growth and generating the conditions for private sector investment of more than £300 million. With superb infrastructure and transport links, it is predicted to deliver 260,000m2 of developable floorspace and 5,200 new jobs by 2027.
IAMP will build on Sunderland’s reputation as a manufacturing centre, enhance its standing as an export champion and secure its position as a hub for new technologies, particularly in the low carbon and electric vehicle sectors.
IAMP will enable Sunderland to satisfy the requirement for large area business spaces for advanced manufacturing within the North East region, and will meet pent up demand for supply chain companies needing to be close to Nissan UK.
